Prevalence of Arterial Stiffness Determined By Cardio-Ankle Vascular Index in Myeloproliferative Neoplasms

چکیده
Background: Cardiovascular events are the most serious complications for patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). There was limited data regarding to arterial stiffness in these patients. Methods: This a cross-sectional study aiming determine prevalence of that evaluated by cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI) polycythemia vera (PV), essential thrombocythemia (ET), and primary myelofibrosis (PMF). We defined as mean CAVI 8.0 or more. compared non-MPN cardiovascular risk matching age, sex Thai CV score. Results: A total 80 were enrolled (PV, n=50; ET, n=24; PMF, n=6) median age 63.5 years (IQR 50.9 - 76.1). The majority received aspirin (83.8%) hydroxyurea (81.3%). Seventeen (21.3%) had history thrombosis. MPNs 63.8%, among PV, PMF 70.8%, 60.0%, 66.7%, respectively (p=0.655). After matching, not statistically significant difference when population (65.2% vs 60.9%, P=0.539). Sixty-one (76.3%) high-risk ≥ 60 thrombosis higher those who low-risk ( 8.6 ± 1.2 7.6 1.0, P=0.002). Conclusion: 63.8% comparable risk. Figure 1View largeDownload PPTFigure PPT Close modal

Assessment of Arterial Stiffness Using the Cardio-Ankle Vascular Index.
BACKGROUND Arterial stiffness is an independent predictor of outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease. Although measurement of pulse wave velocity is a widely accepted, noninvasive approach for the assessment of arterial stiffness, its accuracy is affected by changes in blood pressure. SUMMARY The cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI) is an index of the overall stiffness of the artery f...
متن کاملEffects of telmisartan on arterial stiffness assessed by the cardio-ankle vascular index in hypertensive patients.
BACKGROUND/AIMS This study was conducted to determine the effect of telmisartan on the cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI), a novel blood pressure (BP)-independent marker for arterial stiffness in hypertensive patients. METHODS One hundred consecutive hypertensive patients were randomly assigned either to a group treated with calcium channel blocker (CCB)-based therapy or a group treated with ...
متن کاملA study of arterial stiffness in turner syndrome patients using cardio-ankle vascular index
A large proportion of the increased mortality in Turner syndrome (TS) is related to cardiovascular complications. Increased arterial stiffness may be an important predictor related to cardiovascular complications in TS patients. A novel method of evaluating arterial stiffness, which is relatively independent of changes in blood pressure (BP), is the cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI). The aim o...
متن کاملStroke and Cardio-Ankle Vascular Stiffness Index: A Clinical Use
Stroke is the most common cause of neurological disability and impairs quality of life, resulting in early institutionalization. Atherosclerosis is a major contributor to stroke, which can be prevented by early recognition and management. Cardioankle vascular stiffness index (CAVI) was introduced clinically as a novel, simple and non-invasive measure in the assessment of atherosclerosis. CAVI i...
متن کاملCardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI) as an indicator of arterial stiffness
Arterial stiffness has been identified as an independent predictor of prognostic outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease. Although measurement of pulse wave velocity has been a widely accepted noninvasive approach to the assessment of arterial stiffness, its accuracy is hampered by changes in blood pressure. Taking the exponential relation between intravascular pressure and arterial d...
